    I stumbled across an interesting video on youtube that I’d like to share with you guys. It demonstrates how our brain occasionally plays tricks on us and distorts the information that we perceive with our five senses.

    Beware The Puppet Master

    Some experts believe that 99% of our behavior is simply the result of conditioned responses that we have little to no control over.

     

    Personally, I’m not sure if I like the implications of this statement.

     

    I mean, we all have a few knee jerk reactions here and there, but for the most part, we’re logical, rational creatures who put a lot of thought into our decisions and actions.

    Dan Gilbert on Happiness

    In this video, Harvard Psychologist Dan Gilbert challenges the idea that we’ll be miserable if we don’t get what we want.  He proposes that our “psychological immune system” lets us feel truly happy even when things fail to work out the way we hoped they would.  Interesting stuff.
