“Transform Your Life At The Push Of A Button”
    05 6th, 2012

I came across this very interesting video prank on youtube that showcases an interesting quirk of human nature. It’s no surprise that women are highly likely to be attracted to “high status men” (professional athletes, movie stars, musicians, etc) and would typically jump at the chance to be courted by one of these guys. But is there a way for us “normal” men to flip on this pre-programmed female desire switch even though our reality tv show deal fell through the cracks? Keep reading…

    A Daily Dose Of Inspiration

    Author: Jay Cataldo
    11 20th, 2011

A few nights ago, I had the pleasure of spending time with a former client who was back in town for a couple of days. Leslie’s story is pretty remarkable and I’d like to share it in the hopes it will motivate and inspire you.

Back when she came to me, Leslie was struggling through her fellowship at an NYC hospital. The daily hazing, the politics and the long, brutal hours took a serious toll on her energy and self-confidence. But to make matters worse, poor Leslie had an even bigger problem.

Here’s the breakdown of our 3 day adventure (a huge thanks to my good friend Plato for helping me concoct the itinerary):

    NYC Dating Magic Part 1

    Author: Jay Cataldo
    01 11th, 2010

Today, I’d like to answer a question I’m frequently asked by my male clients.

“Ok, Jay, She finally said yes. So what do I do now?”

Aka: “It took me three months to convince her to go out with me but I have no clue where I should take her. What do you suggest?”

This year on Christmas, amidst the usual socks and underwear that my mom, I mean Santa, always surprises me with, I received a tiny keychain-sized .

Now personally, I’ve always hated these things. I could never figure the damn thing out and pretty much gave up on trying once I turned 9 and got hooked on Transformers and GI Joe’s.

    Beware The Puppet Master

Some experts believe that 99% of our behavior is simply the result of conditioned responses that we have little to no control over.

Personally, I’m not sure if I like the implications of this statement.

I mean, we all have a few knee jerk reactions here and there, but for the most part, we’re logical, rational creatures who put a lot of thought into our decisions and actions.

    Aren’t we?

As the Tiger Woods scandal continues to gather attention, a few people have asked me how I would go about coaching him if he were my client. As a relationship coach who specializes in breakups, here’s what I’d tell this cheating Tiger…

I had an interesting coaching session the other day that I’d like to tell you about. My client (we’ll call him Steve) is a marine who returned home from Iraq earlier in the year. While overseas, one of his best friends became paralyzed from a stray bullet. Unable to deal with the emotional pain, he ended up committing suicide.

About a week back, I put up a tweet on twitter that got everyone all riled up. I’ll admit that it was a bit controversial, even for me. It read:

“The more frustrated men I work with, the more I believe that falling in love is the biggest mistake a man can make in a relationship.”

And of course, everybody started freaking out. While I did get a few “amen brotha”s, most of the responses (from both men and women) accused me of being “crazy”, “cynical” and an all-around poor excuse for a relationship coach. lol Pretty funny actually, but I understand why everyone was so upset. I quickly followed up with this: Read the rest of this entry »

So Chris Brown finally issued a public apology last week for the infamous “Rihanna incident.” While it was long overdue, most people didn’t seem too happy with it, myself being one of them. Personally, I think he could have done a much better job and at the end of this article, I’m going to be sharing some psychologically proven tips on the best way to apologize to a co-worker. This advice will come in handy whenever you miss an important deadline or accidentally give your boss a black eye at the Christmas party. Read the rest of this entry »

This next piece is a guest post from blogger Andrew Kennedy (http://ankank.blogspot.com), the author of “Essential Personalities”.

    Hi all,

This blog was initiated by dating coach Jay Cataldo (@JayCataldo on twitter). Jay has done a great thing in inviting others to contribute to his dating blog.  He has been warm and generous with me especially when we probably don’t agree that much about some matters, but to those readers new to my blog let me introduce myself. People constantly ask me how I’m able to get the results that I do for my clients.  If you’re curious, you can watch the trailer below to learn more about the “secret weapon” I use to transform people’s lives.

Btw… Success guru Jack Canfield highly endorses this technique (he’s in the movie). Nuff said.

    More Bad Facebook Manners

    Author: Jay Cataldo
    05 19th, 2009

I recently got to watch a breakup between a husband and wife unfold on Facebook which played out like a mini soap opera.  What made it especially interesting was the fact that the guy is a pickup coach, very similar to that guy Mystery from the VH1 show “The Pickup Artist.”

Let’s face it. Women are completely insane… at least from a man’s point of view. What guy wouldn’t agree that it’s easier to solve a Rubik’s cube in the midst of an acid trip than to decipher even a single sentence’s worth of undertones coming from the mouth of a female?

    Dan Gilbert on Happiness

    Author: Jay Cataldo
    03 22nd, 2009

In this video, Harvard Psychologist Dan Gilbert challenges the idea that we’ll be miserable if we don’t get what we want.  He proposes that our “psychological immune system” lets us feel truly happy even when things fail to work out the way we hoped they would.  Interesting stuff.

One of my friends recently turned me on to the show “The Dog Whisperer” with Cesar Millan and I was instantly hooked.  I’ve learned a ton from watching this guy in action and his brand of “dog psychology” has helped me rehabilitate my younger brother’s rambunctious beagle.  But as fun as it is to modify a stubborn dog’s behavior, it was the realization that these same techniques can be applied to romantic relationships that led to all the wear and tear on my TiVo.

    A New Definition Of Genius

    Author: Jay Cataldo
    02 26th, 2009

This is a must watch video for all you creative types out there.  In this short talk, Elizabeth Gilbert (author of “Eat, Pray, Love”) offers up a new definition of “genius.”

I wasn’t a huge fan of the book that put her on the map (but I can see why women everywhere rave about it), yet I will say that this woman is a phenomenal story teller and really knows how to captivate an audience.

If you’ve ever tapped into your creative side and brought something to life,  this video will resonate with you.  Check it out.  It rocks.

    Life Coaching? Say What?

    Author: Jay Cataldo
    02 19th, 2009

The first question I’m asked when people find out what I do sounds something like this: “?  Hmm… what’s that all about?”  And my response is always the same: “Honestly… I really couldn’t tell you.”

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not your typical .  I’m nowhere near fifty years old, I’m as politically incorrect as you can get, and I wasn’t invited to be a talking head on The Secret.
